(Preface) 'City Fruitful contains design proposals for a symbiosis of housing and market gardening, one which would apply new techniques to cultivation under glass (e.g. growing crops in an inert fibrous material and computerized climate control).

This would enable a multiplicity of ground uses as well. as save energy. Moreover, the inhabitants of City Fruitful are emotionally involved with the food production processes; it is a true 'green culture'.

This new three-dimensional metropolitan-agrarian approach to urban development (and an official example to illustrate the Fourth Report on Physical Planning) here takes the form of a design for a potential expansion area for Dordrecht, the Netherlands.'
