(Introduction) 'This book is a follow-up to the 100 book that was published to celebrate Graphics International's 100th issue in 2002. The last five years have been an exciting time for us–in 2003, Graphics International became Grafik, and the magazine became independently published when the editorial team purchased it in 2005.

The graphic landscape has also changed considerably since then. The big brand consultancies that dominated in the early Nineties have made way for a new breed of design studio-flexible, multi-disciplinary and more than likely to have been started by two designers and their laptops in one of their flats. As a result, the UK is currently responsible for creating some of the most exciting design work in the world, and we hope that this is reflected in the pages of Grafik.

It's good to see so many of the original 100 book contributors going from strength to strength-many of them are featured alongside the new faces in this volume. Everyone has taken time to share their very personal view of what inspired them, either from an early age or from last week, and once again it makes for an intriguing and revealing read.

Thanks from Grafik to everyone who made this book possible-to Bryan, Jon and Camilla at SEA, Kevin at Identity, John at GF Smith, Paul at Benwell Sebard, to Robert Shore, to Angharad and Laura at Grafik, and to Richard Learoyd and Adam Laycock. Most of all, thanks go out to all of our 150 contributors. We hope you enjoy reading their stories as much as we did.' Caroline Roberts, Editior
