Prospectus for The Vignelli Centre for Design Studies at RIT.

(Introduction) 'Effective Design Design is essential. It has had a tremendous impact on mankind, and is a part of almost everything we use. Design brings together aesthetics, technology, function, information and environment to create the visual communications, living and working spaces, and products that enhance our daily lives. Since 1900, Rochester Institute of Technology has educated students on what makes effective design. The School of Design in the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences is nationally recognized for its outstanding programs and successful graduates. A progressive and rigorous curriculum with consistent technological enhancements provides a preeminent learning environment for future design professionals.

RIT seeks to impress the critical formal values of design upon our students and the public. One of our most valued partners in this effort has been the team of Massimo and Lella Vignelli. Through the scope and integrity of their work, the Vignellis have influenced the world of design for more than four decades. Their collaborative achievements in industrial and product design, graphic and publication design, corporate identity programs, architectural graphics, exhibition, interior, and furniture design, have earned a host of national and international awards and worldwide respect...'
