(Introduction) 'When we first set out to design our next sans-serif typeface, our aim was to create something that was more usable than our neo-grotesque face Reader (2009). We wanted Aperçu to be less specific whilst becoming more usable for a variety of projects and uses.
Aperçu's starting point was to create a synopsis and amalgamation of classic realist typefaces: Franklin Gothic (1903), Johnston (1916), Gill Sans (1926) and Neuzeit (1928). Our idea was not to create a carbon copy of these typefaces, but rather to focus on specific characteristics, allowing the process to lead to something new...'
