(Preface) 'The STD International TypoGraphic Awards are held as an assessment of current standards of typographic design. The criteria being that good typography is an intrinsic element of the design solution. This is the fourth time that we have held these awards, which take place every two years. The call for entries went out in March 98 and the deadline for entries was at the end of May 98. This year we received 500 entries from 28 countries from around the world, including Taiwan, Australia, Brazil and Japan; validating the endorsement of Icograda the International Council of Graphic Design Associations. The awards are recognized as being truly international.'
