Introduction (Translated):

Launched in 1967, the Volkswagen 1000 kg Transporter proved the most popular van in Europe, while a figure sales of 237,000 units in 1968 made Volkswagen the largest manufacturer in the world in this category.

To fight the Volkswagen, the Ford Transit range 1969, was provided with a series of innovations:

  • A higher payload for the Transit FT1000.
  • Braking system with two independent circuits.
  • Controls modified and better placed.
  • Modification of the handles and the control of the windows in the doors of the cabin.
  • Interior mirror detaching in the event of an impact.
  • Compressible board in the event of an impact.
  • Changed deflector lock.
  • Unbreakable lid for glove box.
  • Servo-brake for two circuits (optional).
  • Simultaneous operation of 4 flashers in case of danger.
  • Improved steering column lock position.
  • Half bulkhead and full bulkhead modified.
  • Improved adjustment of the backrest to the "driver" seat.
