Number 5 in the series of Pentagram Papers, which were published to provide 'examples of curious, entertaining, stimulating, provocative, and occasionally controversial points of view that have come to the attention of, or in some cases, are actually originated by, Pentagram.'
To illustrate his view that architecture does not occur in isolation, but springs from a historical and social context, Ron Herron studied entries into the competition for the design of the Palace of the League of Nations in 1926-27. In Pentagram Papers 5: Palace of the League of Nations he highlights how each was informed by events occurring at the time.
